Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) has introduced SiteRite 9, an advanced vascular access ultrasound system to help increase clinician efficiency.
The SiteRite 9 all-in-one system is intended to help physicians work efficiently when inserting IV lines, central venous catheters, peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), and other vascular access devices.
The system offers ‘industry-leading’ catheter placement tools and technologies for supporting clinicians while inserting vascular access devices.
It features an updated 15.6in touchscreen with enhanced image quality, making it easy to use.
BD Medication Delivery Solutions worldwide president Eric Borin said: “Our latest innovation in ultrasound technology is designed to make vascular access care delivery easier and more efficient for clinicians — whether they’ve been on the job for years or are new to the field.
“By combining our decades of leadership in vascular access with voice-of-the-customer enhancements, we’ve developed a best-in-class solution to aid in insertion success on the first attempt and reduce the need for repeated needlesticks to deliver a better care experience for everyone involved.”

By GlobalDataThe system comprises integrated visualisation tools, including the Cue Needle monitoring system, which gives nurses continuous, real-time needle monitoring; and the Sherlock 3CG+ Tip Confirmation System, which guarantees accurate catheter tip navigation and position.
The SiteRite 9 features intelligent, networked technologies such as vessel assessment tools.
These tools are designed to detect the vessel automatically and then pair with vessel measurement tools to help clinicians select the suitable catheter.
The system also provides record transfer, auto-filling capabilities, and patient data lookup with information collection to support clinician workflow.
The SiteRite 9 system is commercially available in the US. It received 510(k) clearance in September 2023.
Last month, BD unveiled the new PIVO Pro needle-free blood collection device to draw blood samples directly from a patient’s peripheral IV line.
