GE HealthCare is reinforcing its application of artificial intelligence (AI) in imaging workflows with yet another partnership, this time with RadNet subsidiary DeepHealth.
The medtech gianthas been busy forging deals with AI specialists as it aims to further advance the adoption of the technology in imaging. DeepHealth, which has a range of AI-powered clinical products, will work with the healthcare giant on developing SmartTechnology solutions.
GE HealthCare said that the SmartTechnology solutions would harness AI to “address key challenges across the imaging value chain,” including efficiency of imaging interpretation and reporting, clinical assessments, and collaboration between different care teams.
Medical imaging is a major driver of AI’s growth in healthcare – a 2023 report by GlobalData predicts that global revenue for AI platforms across healthcare will reach $18.8bn by 2027. AI is impacting radiology at the device level via embedding of software into scanners, ultrasound, and x-ray machines, and at the departmental level via management platforms that streamline workflows and free up resources such as time. GE HealthCare has already teamed up with Amazon and NVIDIA in 2024 to build generative AI capabilities across its healthcare products.
GE Healthcare and RadNet said it would first focus the partnership within breast cancer, courtesy of DeepHealth’s AI-based SmartMammo. The SaaS platform integrates into existing breast cancer diagnostic workflows and enhances efficiency and accuracy in breast cancer detection, according to DeepHealth. SmartMammo will combine with GE HealthCare’s 3D mammography tool Senographe Pristina to add AI-driven clinical imaging in breast cancer screening.
GE HealthCare’s imaging CEO Roland Rott said: “As we look to make more personalised, patient-centered breast care a reality – AI continues to show great promise in breast cancer screening from early detection and risk prediction, to reduced callbacks and more efficient workflows for breast imaging providers.”

By GlobalDataThe two companies will also look to add Smart Alerts to Senographe Pristina, that will immediately notify imaging sites to cases with potentially suspicious lesions. GE HealthCare states the inclusion can help with same-day diagnostic exams, follow-up compliance, and reduce patient anxiety.
RadNet’s digital health division CEO said: “[Through this partnership] we are poised to revolutionise large-scale diagnostic and screening programs, streamline radiology workflows, and improve patient outcomes. This collaboration aims to empower healthcare providers with the tools they need to deliver more effective and personalized care at scale.”
