Subtle Medical has gained the CE mark certification in Europe for its software solution SubtleHD, designed to enhance the quality of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images.
According to the company, the software claims to decrease scan times by up to 80% and “optimise” radiology workflows. It is available in the European Union and other regions recognising the CE Mark.
SubtleHD offers a vendor-neutral AI solution compatible with the current MRI scanners.
This allows healthcare facilities to conduct rapid scans and accommodate more patients, thereby improving “diagnostic confidence” without costly hardware upgrades.
Subtle Medical also stated that the software can be used to apply denoising and sharpening to generate quality images.
Its benefits to imaging institutions include enhanced image quality for quicker interpretation, particularly on older magnets that struggle with the clarity of the image.
The software is said to help keep technicians on schedule, minimise patient waiting periods, and increase the number of daily scans without further investment in equipment.
Subtle Medical chief commercial officer Josh Gurewitz said: “Receiving CE Mark for SubtleHD marks a major step in expanding access to higher quality MRI imaging across Europe.
“With SubtleHD, hospitals, and imaging centres now have the newest and by far the best image enhancement solution for MRI to hit the market.”
Patients also benefit from SubtleHD, as shorter scan times enhance comfort and reduce the likelihood of motion-related artefacts and the need for rescans.
SubtleHD’s cost-efficient approach to improving imaging comes from its ability to extend the life of current magnets and remove the necessity for expensive upgrades or new equipment purchases from original equipment manufacturers.
The company engaged in a partnership with Bayer in November 2021 to explore the use of AI in medical imaging.
