Medical technology company Biotronik has introduced its portable monitoring device, CardioMessenger Smart in the US.

The device, which is the same size as a modern smartphone enables physicians to stay remotely connected with their pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), and insertable cardiac monitor (ICM) patients subsequently improving the care management from any location.

It transmits vital information from the patient’s implanted cardiac device to their physician in an automated way by Biotronik’s home monitoring device which includes daily, automatic reports and fully customisable alerts that can be tailored to the physician’s specifications.

In the TRUST, COMPAS and IN-TIME clinical studies, Biotronik’s home monitoring device has shown that it facilitates the daily transmission of remotely monitored data consisting of comprehensive information for the physicians, in a reliable and safe way which subsequently reduces instances of hospitalisation, stroke and mortality.

Physicians can access to the fully automated provision of daily reports of cardiac activity through worldwide cellular networks to intervention from the patient.
