Between 21 February and 27 February, 325 medtech companies posted 10,029 jobs worldwide, according to the GlobalData jobs analytics tool. This represented only a small 7% decrease on the 10,800 jobs posted the week before, but companies were seen to be making far fewer listings across the board.
While last week’s top poster was eye health business Bausch + Lomb, with a staggering 859 roles advertised, this week saw diagnostic device developer Cepheid UK post the most jobs with 521 listings. This was followed by Quest Diagnostics, which posted 439 jobs, and clinical device company Avanos Medical, which posted 425 jobs.

The majority of medtech jobs posted this week were at an entry- and junior level, with 6803 falling into this category. Meanwhile, mid-level roles made up 2,835 listings and 391 senior roles were posted.
Major industry hires from Cepheid and Quest
The fact that two diagnostics companies are leading the way in terms of hiring is hardly surprising, given the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Cepheid most recently received approval from Health Canada to market its RSV combination test for SARS-CoV-2, influenza A and influenza B, in January this year. It posted 20 listings for jobs in Canada, and is currently looking to make numerous hires across a diverse range of roles in North America, Europe and Asia.
Quest Diagnostics has this week marked one year since the launch of its first Covid-19 molecular diagnostic test service, following its Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The firm is looking to fill several phlebotomist positions across the US, as well as posting 58 listings for insurance risk interviewers in Lee’s Summit and Sedalia, both in Missouri.
