The global medical industry noticed a 16.9% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 over the previous month, led by Danaher’s 8.65% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The medical industry’s overall hiring activity declined 16.53% when compared with October 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 7.36% share of the global medical industry’s hiring activity in November 2022, down 0.35% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of November 2022 were 14.15% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 36.44% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 54.15% emerged as the top IT occupation in the medical hiring activity in November 2022, a 40.25% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 16.65% in November 2022, down 52.73% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer Support Specialists with an 11.24% share in November 2022, a decline of 36.39% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 7.39% share in November 2022 and a drop of 42.25% over October 2022.
Top five medical companies by recruitment activity in November 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 41.85% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global medical industry during November 2022 over October 2022.
Danaher posted 144 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a rise of 46.94% over the previous month, followed by Abbott Laboratories with 100 jobs and a 47.06% growth. Carl Zeiss with 96 IT jobs and GE Healthcare with 88 jobs, recorded a 15.66% growth and a 4.76% rise, respectively, while Becton Dickinson and Co recorded an 85.9% drop with 75 job postings during November 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in medical industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global medical IT hiring activity in November 2022 with a 60.34% share, which marked a 46.93% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 20.13%, registering a 43.32% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with an 18.09% share and a 36.23% drop over October 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 1.02% and a month-on-month drop of 39.29%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.42%, registering a 65% decrease over the previous month.
