Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive artificial intelligence-related hiring activity
Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 24%, emerged as the top artificial intelligence-related job roles within the medical industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 3% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 17% in Q2 2024, with new job postings dropping by 3% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent artificial intelligence roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 10% share in Q2 2024, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 5% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in medical industry accounted for 35% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Align Technology, Medtronic, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Danaher, and GE HealthCare Technologies. Together they accounted for a combined share of 35% of all artificial intelligence-related new jobs in the medical industry.
Align Technology posted 622 artificial intelligence-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Medtronic 356 jobs, Thermo Fisher Scientific 252 jobs, Danaher 167 jobs, and GE HealthCare Technologies 165 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 53.85% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of artificial intelligence-related new job postings in the medical industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 53.85% followed by India (10.28%) and Germany (9.24%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point lower than the 54.95% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
