The global medical industry noticed an 11.1% rise in IT hiring activity in February 2021 over the previous month, led by Danaher’s 12.97% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The medical industry’s overall hiring activity increased 7.2% when compared with January 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for an 8% share of the global medical industry’s hiring activity in February 2021, up 0.39% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of February 2021 were 9.53% higher compared with the previous month.
The increase was a result of 16.21% lower job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 55.42% emerged as the top IT occupation in the medical hiring activity in February 2021, an 8.54% increase over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in second with a share of 11.43% in February 2021, up 18.21% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 10.23% share in February 2021, increase of 3.68% over the previous month, and Computer Support Specialists with a 9.59% share in February 2021 and drop of 4.46% over January 2021.
Top five medical companies by recruitment activity in February 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average increase of 12.16% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global medical industry during February 2021 over January 2021.
Danaher posted 464 IT jobs in February 2021 and registered a rise of 3.34% over the previous month, followed by Sonova with 248 jobs and a 5.08% rise. Demant with 137 IT jobs and Becton Dickinson and with 128 jobs, recorded a 7.43% decline and a 39.13% growth, respectively, while GE Healthcare recorded a 124.07% growth with 121 job postings during February 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in medical industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global medical IT hiring activity in February 2021 with a 46.53% share, which marked a 19.1% growth over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 38.01%, registering an 8.11% month-on-month increase. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 13.47% share and a 6.77% decline over January 2021.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 1.26% and a month-on-month growth of 25%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.73%, registering an 18.75% drop over the previous month.
