Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations, with a share of 17%, emerged as the top medical device quality control-related job roles within the medical industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 31% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 12% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 24% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent medical device quality control roles include Production Occupations with a 10% share in Q2 2024, Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 10% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in medical industry accounted for 39% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Laboratory Corp of America Holdings, Fresenius SE & Co, Quest Diagnostics, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Option Care Enterprises. Together they accounted for a combined share of 39% of all medical device quality control-related new jobs in the medical industry.
Laboratory Corp of America Holdings posted 1,032 medical device quality control-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Fresenius SE & Co 990 jobs, Quest Diagnostics 565 jobs, Thermo Fisher Scientific 460 jobs, and Option Care Enterprises 316 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 66.71% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of medical device quality control-related new job postings in the medical industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 66.71% followed by Germany (12.67%) and India (3.37%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point lower than the 67.33% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
