
Eye health company Bausch and Lomb, along with diagnostic imaging and healthcare IT solutions provider Heidelberg Engineering, have launched the new SeeLumafully digital surgical visualisation platform.
Designed for use in complex surgical procedures, the new platform will be available in the US and Western Europe this month before expanding to more countries.
The new platform is expected to provide enhanced visualisation to ophthalmic surgeons compared to optical, hybrid and retrofitted microscopes.

SeeLuma comes with a heads-up 3D monitor as well as multiple digital display options that allow surgeons to operate ergonomically.
Surgeons can conduct 3D heads-up surgery using next-generation 3D 55” and 31” 4K monitors and unique digital binoculars. The C-shaped suspension arm allows surgeons to view the surgical monitor straight ahead of them.
It also features an intuitive interface that enables smooth and efficient workflow.
The embedded functions enable the user to improve anatomical landmarks to better differentiate anatomical features.
In addition, the device supports the connection of multiple wireless displays simultaneously to provide an immersive educational experience for trainees. Stakeholders and trainees can follow and anticipate surgical steps while in the operating room and/or from a remote location.
The platform’s Assist Mode allows surgeons to send and receive real-time support through a touchscreen interface.
