Exactech has launched the latest version of its Equinoxe Shoulder Preoperative Planning App in the US.
The new Equinoxe Shoulder Planning App v2.1 allows surgeons to choose implants and sizes for the scapula and humerus depending on the specific anatomy of a patient and increases planning flexibility for the placement of shoulder components.
In the operating room, the software can be used with the ExactechGPS navigation system, linking the preoperative plan with the implant placement.
The features of the Shoulder Preoperative Planning software’s latest version include a redesigned and improved user interface as well as access to the machine learning-based clinical decision support tool Predict+.
It offers views of the total joint and combined motions for evaluating the shoulder range of motion and impingement at particular locations.
Equinoxe Shoulder Planning App v2.1 identifies humeral head offset as well as position adjustments in anatomic procedures, while in reverse procedures it provides humeral tray and liner planning.

Exactech Extremities senior vice-president Chris Roche said: “Since the launch of the original Equinoxe Planning App, surgeons have planned more than 50,000 shoulder cases and executed their plans in 30,000+ cases using GPS.
“The Planning App, combined with GPS, makes the system the first and only shoulder navigation technology that connects the preoperative plan with real-time intraoperative instrument guidance – and verifies implant placement.
“The new features added to the Planning App highlight Exactech’s drive to create new solutions that enhance our surgeons’ surgical experiences.”
In March, the company launched Equinoxe Humeral Reconstruction Prosthesis for clinical use in Europe.
