Hamamatsu Photonics has launched the Cytoqube Light-Sheet Microplate Cytometer, an instrument designed for 3D cell screening assays.

The device combines light-sheet optics with image analysis to provide a fast, user-friendly system, ideal for advanced live cell image analysis.

Engineered to facilitate rapid, information-rich imaging of multi-well cell culture plates, it employs light-sheet microscopy and Hamamatsu’s Zyncscan image processing platform to quickly acquire 3D fluorescence images of each well in a microplate.

This technology enables researchers to perform rapid assays for the size, shape, number, and colour / intensity of cells or cell populations.

The light-sheet optical system of Cytoqube simplifies 3D acquisition while Zyncscan’s advanced imaging processing algorithms enhance the speed of acquiring and rendering 3D images.

The system also increases the signal-to-noise ratio by eliminating background fluorescence.

Furthermore, Cytoqube allows the efficient imaging of 3D cultures, such as spheroids and organoids, which more closely mimic in vivo conditions.

Its ability to capture fast 3D fluorescence image data could significantly enhance the efficiency of drug screening, offering new opportunities for cellular assays.

Hamamatsu said that the Cytoqube software removes unwanted background fluorescence in real time, improving the quality of the signal.

In May 2024, Indica Labs secured 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration for its enterprise digital pathology platform, HALO AP Dx.

The approval allows the platform to be used for primary diagnosis of surgical pathology slides, specifically those scanned by the Hamamatsu Photonics’s NanoZoomer S360MD Slide scanner.
