US-based hormonal health company Mira has launched an online clinic that is set to provide personalised support from fertility professionals to people struggling to conceive.

The online tool, dubbed the Hormone Health Clinic, provides personalised support from fertility professionals, focusing on addressing hormonal imbalances, nutrition and gut health, setting up effective exercise routines and improving mental health.

Mira conducted a study in partnership with fertility specialists Pelex that showed that 44% of participants, previously deemed infertile, got pregnant after two months of trying. Meanwhile, 72% of people received accurate diagnoses using regular at-home hormonal tracking with Mira. This is compared to the IVF success rate of 40%.

The digital clinic is eligible for flexible spending account (FSA) and health savings account (HSA) reimbursement. The clinic offers different service packages, including $95 for a 45-minute consultation with a fertility coach and $259 for a 90-day plan which includes educational resources, a personalised fertility plan and coaching from a fertility specialist. Users also have the option to add a Mira hormone-tracking solution along with the 90-day plan.

Founded in 2015, Mira released its hormone-tracking monitor back in 2018. The device – designed by scientists and obstetrics and gynaecology doctors – tracks hormones such as luteinising hormone (LH), and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). The AI-powered monitor predicts and confirms ovulation and tracks small changes in hormones, to provide a clear picture of hormonal health.

Estimates suggest that infertility affects approximately one in every six people of reproductive age worldwide, as per the World Health Organization. In the female reproductive system, infertility may be caused by a range of abnormalities of the ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, and the endocrine system.

Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is the current gold standard for female infertility, including in vitro fertilisation (IVF). However, Mira positions its technology as an accessible alternative to ART and IVF, with factors such as lifestyle, mental health and well-being being shown to affect women’s fertility.

Mira CEO Sylvia Kang said: “With Hormone Health Clinic, we want to assist women throughout their pregnancy journey by personalised maintenance of hormonal health, general well-being, and emotional support.

“By this, we want to make the whole fertility journey less stressful for women, with no need to spend lots of time on useless and impersonal appointments with OBs, painful injections, blood drawings and frequent doctor visits, like in the IVF process.”

According to a GlobalData press release, the number of female infertility cases is set to decrease by 0.4% in the seven major markets (US, UK, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan) from 16,732,165 cases in 2023 to 16,053,363 cases in 2033.
