Semiconductor solutions provider Omnivision has introduced the new ultra-thin medical-grade cable module, OVMed OCHTA, for single-use endoscopes.
The new module is suitable for endoscopes used in minimally invasive surgery, including spinal, ob-gyn, utero-renal, neuro, ophthalmic and cardiac procedures.
It links very small 400 x 400-resolution imagers to endoscopes with ultra-thin 0.45mm cables, which are available in 1.5m and 2.5m lengths.
OVMed OCHTA cable modules include a six-wire cable that enables manufacturers to add their own LED illumination.
Omnivision medical product marketing manager Ehsan Ayar said: “As the medical industry’s leading image sensor provider, we are addressing our customers’ needs for a turnkey imaging solution with the OCHTA cable module.
“The ultra-thin, customisable cable modules are medical-grade tested and ready to be integrated – lowering design and test time and simplifying the supply chain.”
To offer manufacturers a fully tested and production-ready solution from a single source, the company provides customisable cable lengths, connectors and LEDs.
The company plans to provide customised options from the third quarter of this year.
Furthermore, the company is offering 1.5m and 2.5m ‘off the shelf’ cable modules and evaluation kits.
In November last year, Omnivision launched its square two-megapixel (1,500MP x 1,500MP) resolution OH02B image sensor for disposable and reusable endoscopes.
It is suitable for orthopaedic, ENT, surgical, gastrointestinal, dental and veterinarian reusable and disposable endoscopes, catheters and guide wires.
