Hoya Group division Pentax Medical has set up an endoscope manufacturing, research and development (R&D) and service centre in Shanghai, China.
The new facility will be involved in delivering and repairing endoscopic solutions for medical institutions in the country and has been established to improve customer experience by rapidly resolving any inquiries and providing better care.
Pentax Medical Asia Pacific region president Maha Guruswamy said: “Pentax Medical is happy to contribute to a ‘Healthy China’ initiative by locally manufacturing high-tech medical devices.”
Pentax Medical global president Rainer Burkard said: “At Pentax Medical, we care about providing the best possible support for health care professionals. We have already established R&D centres in Japan, US and Germany to take customers’ voices into our R&D activities.
“This establishment will allow and cater for closer interaction with the clinical stakeholders and our R&D in China as well.”
In January this year, Pentax Medical secured CE marks for its INSPIRA premium video processor (EPK-i8020c) and the i20c video endoscope series.
Compatible with the company’s recent endoscope models, the new video processor has been developed with a focus on the needs of healthcare providers.
The i20c generation of video endoscopes comes with advanced ergonomics for healthcare professionals.
