A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11888635B2) discloses an electronic device designed to enhance video communication sessions. The device includes a network interface connecting it to other electronic devices during a video call. A controller receives image streams from other devices, identifies individuals within the streams, and generates attendance data by comparing them to an expected roster. It also tracks participants' engagement by monitoring their gaze towards the camera and their responses to quiz questions. The device communicates attendance and participation data to a host output device and alerts users if they are not looking at the camera for an extended period.

Furthermore, the electronic device can assess compliance with clothing policies, conduct visual acuity tests, monitor illumination levels, and track the usage of required articles during video calls. In cases of non-compliance with set policies, the device notifies the users and requests explanations. Additionally, the device can capture images of articles, compare them across different streams, and generate compliance data for each participant. This innovative technology aims to improve engagement, compliance, and overall effectiveness of video communication sessions by providing real-time feedback and alerts to participants and hosts.
