Argon Medical Devices has announced the expansion of its liver management portfolio with the introduction of the Intara Introducer sheath and the TLAB transvenous liver biopsy system.

These products are designed to support a range of procedures in interventional radiology, cardiology, vascular surgery, and oncology.

The Intara Introducer sheath is engineered to provide vascular access for the delivery of therapeutic or diagnostic devices, excluding coronary and neuro vasculature.

The 10-French sheath has resistance to kinking and provides improved visibility, which is crucial for the introduction, navigation, and delivery of various vascular devices.

It is expected to complement the use of Argon Medical's existing products, including the TLAB transvenous liver biopsy system and the Scorpion and Traveler portal vein access sets, along with stents used in the transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) procedure.

The TLAB system is said to become a significant addition to Argon Medical's liver biopsy offerings, now with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for a transfemoral approach.

This system features a tool that allows for shape adjustment to accommodate individual patient anatomy.

A 500-patient retrospective review highlighted the system's safety and efficacy, with reduced complication rates compared to the traditional transjugular approach.

Argon Medical president and CEO George Leondis said: “Our company is dedicated to applying innovation to improve the devices interventionalists use to diagnose and treat liver diseases.

“This is demonstrated by our cadence of new product introductions in this space, including the BioPince ultra full-core biopsy instrument, the Scorpion portal vein access sets, and the Traveler portal vein access sets.”

Both the Intara sheath and the TLAB system are now available for use in the US and Canada.

Last month, Argon Medical Devices launched the CLEANER Vac thrombectomy system for removing blood clots from the peripheral venous vasculature.
