Bionik Laboratories has secured a patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for its innovative rehabilitation technology.

The latest patent, titled "An Apparatus and/or Method for Positioning a Hand for Rehabilitation", represents a major step forward in Bionik's dedication to advancing robotic technology for rehabilitation.

Bionik has developed new technology to improve the rehabilitation process for people recovering from neurological injuries and conditions.

The new apparatus and method offer accurate positioning and guidance for patients at the time of upper-extremity rehabilitation.

This new patent highlights the company's commitment to creating advanced solutions that could transform rehabilitation and enhance patient results.

Bionik CEO Richard Russo Jr. said: “The addition of this new patent closes out an almost four-year patent application process.

“This patent further strengthens our intellectual property portfolio and highlights our commitment to innovation in advancing robotic technology, development and delivery.”

In June this year, Bionik announced the expansion of its partnership with Lifepoint Health with the deployment of InMotion ARM robotic systems at its four new locations in the US.

The robotic devices were installed at Lifepoint’s facilities located in Sacramento, California; Louisville, Kentucky; Brownsburg, Indiana and Phoenix, Arizona, for the provision of stroke recovery care.

Bionik offers neurological functional recovery solutions to stroke survivors and others with functional and mobility challenges.

Recently, the company unveiled its Neuro-Recovery Centers of Excellence strategy to demonstrate its technology and solutions in an existing framework of revenue-generating and profitable rehabilitation centres.
