GE HealthCare has signed an agreement with Johnson and Johnson’s orthopaedics company DePuy Synthes for the distribution of its OEC 3D Imaging System in the US.

The deal will allow both entities to better serve surgeons and address the complex requirements of their patients, as well as several procedural needs in the spine.

The OEC 3D Imaging System has been developed to enhance surgical imaging precision and efficiency for advancing the 3D imaging experience in surgical suites.

Its surgical imaging C-arm is a mobile CBCT imaging solution, which facilitates 2D high-definition imaging and intraoperative 3D volumes while covering a large anatomical field of view.

The C-arm provides accurate 3D volumetric images and better OEC 2D imaging capabilities.

Besides a seamless workflow that allows clinicians to view a wider picture, it also integrates features to analyse images, interoperative review and noise reduction.

GE Healthcare Image-Guided Therapies business president and CEO Phil Rackliffe said: “We know that GE HealthCare’s OEC 3D is a game-changer for clinicians today – from its large field of view and open platform to high-quality reconstructed 3D images.

“Through this new collaboration with DePuy Synthes, we’re excited for the opportunity to bring this technology to more spine practices in acute to outpatient settings knowing OEC 3D provides precise and efficient imaging so that surgeons can stay focused on what matters most - providing quality patient care.”

In May this year, GE HealthCare secured 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration for its new deep learning-based image processing software, Precision DL.
