Dx&Vx has received a government project in South Korea for the development of a diagnostic sensor kit for adult diseases.

This national project, named Korea-led K-Sensor Technology Development for Market Leadership, is backed by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and is managed by the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology.

Dx&Vx will lead the development as part of the three-year project, which was allocated a budget of up to $3.6m, including $2.8m from the government.

The project will be supported by the Korea Electronics Technology Institute, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Korea University and the Department of Urology at Hanyang University College of Medicine.

COREE Group will be involved in the final commercialisation of the project.

A Dx&Vx official said: “Starting with the diagnostic development business that combines biotechnology and semiconductors, we will expand the development of additional modules using AI and IoT technologies, data analysis algorithms and technologies for early diagnosis.”

The project will mainly target the development of a sensor system for the early diagnosis of adult diseases based on biomarkers in urine.

The system is expected to help detect biomarkers in urine for full-time monitoring and early diagnosis of several adult diseases, including prostate cancer and diabetes.

Furthermore, the project will focus on the development of an in vitro point-of-care device that can measure different biomarkers using microelectromechanical system technology and optical technology.

The device will also leverage semiconductor technology for signal processing and artificial intelligence analysis technology.
