ENDRA Life Sciences has announced the installation of its first TAEUS liver system at London’s King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in the UK.

Developed by ENDRA Life Sciences, the TAEUS system is designed to enhance the accuracy of liver fat assessments.

It will be used by the hospital in a clinical study to compare its liver fat assessment accuracy with magnetic resonance imaging, the current research standard. The study will involve around 75 subjects.

The study at King's College Hospital aims to provide critical data on the performance of the TAEUS technology.

ENDRA chairman and CEO Francois Michelon said: “We are proud to launch our partnership with one of the United Kingdom's most highly regarded and influential NHS institutions.

“This collaboration not only will strengthen ENDRA's growing portfolio of clinical evidence but also potentially marks a strategic step into the UK’s extensive NHS network.”

The TAEUS liver system offers a non-invasive approach that allows clinicians to measure steatosis in less than a minute – at the patient's point of care.

Designed to work together with more than 700,000 ultrasound systems in operation worldwide, the system is initially focused on measuring liver fat to evaluate and monitor steatotic liver disease.

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Liver Unit hepatologist Dr Ashley Barnabas said: “The NHS operates more than 900 hospitals, serves 1.3 million people daily and is increasingly focusing on liver health. This includes innovative mobile NHS units that provide liver health assessments in high-risk communities.

“ENDRA's versatile TAEUS system could potentially be suited for such outreach initiatives in the future.”

In 2022, Cydar Medical and King’s College London enrolled the first participant in the ARIA study of the artificial intelligence image fusion system, Cydar EV Maps.
