Exactech has unveiled TriVerse, a new primary knee system that has treated its first cases of active knee replacement patients.

This implant has anterior and posterior stabilised components and is completely made of well-crosslinked vitamin E polyethylene.

Featuring intraoperative flexibility and simplicity, TriVerse allows for same-day surgical procedures and is an up-to-date implant construct suitable for active lifestyles.

The company intends to introduce TriVerse implants together with a completely featured set of mechanical equipment to deliver the efficiency needed in same-day surgical settings.

Chris Christensen and David Taunton, orthopaedic surgeons from Bluegrass Orthopaedics and Texas Orthopedic Specialists, respectively, performed the first knee surgeries with TriVerse.

Exactech Large Joints Business Unit CMO and SVP Adam Hayden said: “For more than three decades, Exactech has continued to push forward total knee replacement innovations that are built on time-tested results.

“TriVerse adds to the company’s advanced portfolio of knee solutions, including the award-winning Truliant primary and revision systems and integrated Newton ligament balancing platform, providing yet another tried-and-true system that helps address the challenging health landscape.”

The company anticipates making TriVerse fully available in early 2024.

Last month, Exactech received 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration for a new Activit-E polyethylene for the Truliant knee replacement system.

Leveraging chemically crosslinked polyethylene, Activit-E achieves an optimised balance between material strength and sturdiness while eliminating the need for gamma irradiation technology.
