Eyedaptic has launched EYE6 with Ivy, a wearable vision aid with an AI-powered visual assistant.

The next generation of the company’s smart glasses, EYE6 is designed to enhance the vision of individuals suffering from age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and other retinal disorders.

Leveraging advanced multimodal generative AI and large language models, the EYE6 with Ivy can interpret real-time information for users.

As a visual assistant, Ivy can read text, locate objects, describe environments, and assist with various daily tasks. Its proficiency in 99 languages and ability to adapt to different environments allows customised visual augmentation to meet individual needs.

Building on the success of its predecessor, the EYE6 with Ivy merges visual assistance with vision enhancement to deliver a seamless experience for users.

EYE6 features 3 oz smart glasses, making it comfortable for extended wear.

It retains all the vision-enhancing features of the EYE5, including a simple user interface, and has full high-definition resolution microdisplays for superior image quality.

Additionally, it offers the convenience of remote upgrades on the EYE5 platform through a low monthly subscription.

Eyedaptic MD and chief medical officer Mitul Mehta said: “The implementation and integration of AI in visual assistive devices is truly groundbreaking.

“With the EYE6, individuals with vision impairments now have a visual assistant to help them do everyday tasks and activities that weren’t possible before. They can ask Ivy to read a page to them or describe a room. With Ivy, the possibilities are endless allowing individuals to remain independent and have a better quality of life."
