Luscii will harness Apple iPads to provide healthcare organisations with expanded remote patient monitoring capabilities, following a partnership with Apple device management company Jamf.

Amsterdam, Netherlands-based Luscii, whose care at home platform is already being used in over 130 countries, will use Jamf’s device management solution to ensure the rollout of the software on iPads meets data privacy regulations.

Jamf will also offer up its Apple device management framework to aid the roll out of the remote patient monitoring technology across the tablets. Luscii says its technology can spot health deterioration early on, reduce hospital admissions and improve patient outcomes.

The remote patient monitoring market is expected to reach $760m by 2030, growing at an 8.9% annual rate between 2020 and 2030. A theme that has become increasingly apparent as a challenge to the market’s prosperity is the guarantee of cybersafe software. The health sector has had its fair share of data leaks in 2023. In July, HCA Healthcare – one of America’s largest healthcare systems – was hit by a data breach affecting 11 million patients.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will soon require medical devices, which include remote monitoring software, to meet cybersecurity obligations.

In a statement announcing the partnership, Luscii said it aims to create a more inclusive healthcare landscape by addressing digital exclusion.

Luscii’s founder Professor Daan Dohmen said: “Offering digital health means that we need to make sure every patient can get access to these new possibilities, even the most vulnerable. By combining Luscii's innovative remote monitoring platform with Jamf's industry-leading device management capabilities, we can deliver a seamless and secure experience for any patient: A hospital-in-a-box.”
