California-based clinical development company Medable has announced a partnership with technology giant Google Cloud to bring the company’s digital, decentralised clinical trial platform to the Google Cloud Marketplace.

Medable says that offering its platform on the Google Cloud service will allow users to benefit from Google Cloud infrastructure and online by taking advantage of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced cloud technologies to accelerate trial design, execution, and data management. The company also insisted that its Google-hosted platform will come equipped with Studio, the company’s latest clinical trial organisation software, offered through a software-as-a-service system.

Michelle Longmire, co-founder, and CEO of Medable, said: “This alliance provides life sciences companies with Medable’s cutting-edge clinical development technology powered by Google Cloud through Google Cloud Marketplace.

“The collaboration will enable scaled and seamless adoption of Medable solutions by Google Cloud users, providing life sciences companies with platform capabilities proven to improve patient access to trials and accelerate critical development efforts, globally.”

Additionally, the deal aims to streamline the payment process for users, allowing Medable to take payment through Google Cloud Marketplace, benefiting from consolidated billing and streamlined procurement. Medable usage will appear directly on Google Cloud invoices, and users will be able to pay for a portion of this usage with their committed Google Cloud spend.

The announcement follows a year after Medable partnered with the Clinical Trials Center of the Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard (MRCT Center) to release a toolkit for the decentralised clinical trial (DCT) ethics review process. Now Medable says it has deployed its software-as-a-service platform in more than 300 decentralised  and hybrid clinical trials in 60 countries covering approximately a million patients so far.

Dai Vu, managing director of Google Cloud Marketplace, said: “Bringing Medable’s platform to Google Cloud Marketplace will help customers quickly deploy, manage, and expand their use of the AI-driven clinical trial platform on Google Cloud's trusted, global infrastructure.”

The announcement also follows after Medable’s system was selected by the Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub to improve care accessibility for remote oncology patients in rural Canada.
