Medical technology company Motive Health has officially introduced Motive Knee, its US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved muscle stimulation device.

The knee pain relief device was previously available on a prescription but it can now be ordered by customers without a prescription.

Motive Knee has been clinically validated to alleviate knee discomfort and improve mobility by strengthening the quadriceps muscles by leveraging neuromuscular stimulation technology.

A precise electrical pulse for stimulating muscle movement is used by the device to treat knee pain. It allows the strengthening of the quadriceps to reduce knee joint pressure.

Motive Knee's muscle therapy helps provide long-lasting joint health and enhanced mobility, compared with other devices that may temporarily reduce knee pain, the company said.

With a recommended use of 30 minutes per day, consumers can easily control the therapy in their own homes.

The device connects with the MyMotive App, which allows users to personalise therapy levels, track progress and attain mobility goals.

Each device is paired with reusable therapy pads, knee wrap, conductive gel and charging cable.

Motive Health president and CEO Rob Morocco said: “The direct-to-consumer launch of Motive Health is an exciting time not only for the company but for consumers who can now have access to lasting knee pain relief from home.

“Our technology is a game changer for anyone trying to get back to an active lifestyle that is limited by debilitating knee pain. We are delighted to make Motive Knee accessible to those in need through our new e-commerce platform.”
