Medical technology company Olympus has launched two advanced bronchoscopes compatible with the EVIS X1 Endoscopy System.
The diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopes, BF-H1100 and BF-1TH1100 respectively, are engineered to provide high-definition imaging and improved procedural flexibility.
Designed with a slimmer outer diameter, the new models enable access to distal airways and offer increased suction capabilities and larger working channels for a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic devices.
The BF-H1100 diagnostic bronchoscope features a 2.2mm working channel, enhancing suction by 11% while the BF-1TH1100 therapeutic bronchoscope's 3.0mm channel increases suction by 29%.
Both models have been refined for improved scope handling, with an insertion tube rotation ring that minimises hand rotation and potentially reduces physical stress during procedures.
The redesigned image sensor of the two bronchoscopes enables a small outer diameter while maintaining its predecessors’ HDTV resolution.
The Olympus’ EVIS X1 endoscopy system integrates several imaging technologies, including the CV-1500 video system centre.
These imaging technologies include brightness adjustment imaging with maintenance of contrast (BAI-MAC), texture and colour enhancement imaging (TXI), red dichromatic imaging (RDI), and narrow-band imaging (NBI).
Olympus respiratory business unit vice-president Swarna Alcorn said: “With the EVIS X1 endoscopy system, Olympus remains committed to offering physicians the best tools possible along the entire patient care pathway.
“We are excited to launch diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopes supported by our most advanced endoscopy system. Pulmonologists will have the confidence to expand their reach with bronchoscopes that combine a slim outer diameter, a large working channel and improved imaging.”
Olympus introduced its next-generation EVIS X1 endoscopy system for gastrointestinal practitioners, in October 2023.
