Medical technology company Olympus has initiated a new single-use flexible video rhinolaryngoscope, Vathin E-SteriScope, in the US.

Manufactured by Hunan Vathin Medical Instrument, the rhinolaryngoscope is exclusively distributed by Olympus in the country.

Expected to be available in the Middle East, Africa and Europe later this year, the rhinolaryngoscope is intended for diagnostic and therapeutic otorhinolaryngological procedures.

The E-SteriScope empowers doctors to examine patients in both the operating room and the office, offering the flexibility to conduct procedures such as biopsies and injections at more sites of care.

Simplified content management and data sharing tools such as the nCare recorder and VaultStream server, facilitate teamwork among healthcare professionals.

They enable physicians and nurses to connect seamlessly with their team members, ensuring secure storage and easy access to patient data from a single location.

By offering working channel options and workflow pathway solutions, the rhinolaryngoscope can potentially help physicians enhance procedural efficiency, reduce procedure-related expenses and boost patient satisfaction.

A tip angulation range of 210° up and down enables ease in accessing targets. The therapeutic scope also features a 2.2mm working channel.

The rhinolaryngoscope has a diagnostic scope with an outer diameter ranging from 3.2mm and a therapeutic scope with an outer diameter of 4.9mm, as well as a 300mm insertion tube.

Olympus Therapeutic Solutions senior vice-president Gabriel McHugh said: “We are very excited to launch this single-use rhinolaryngoscope as a complement to the full Olympus ENT portfolio.

“We know that many factors influence clinical workflow, including portability, efficiency and connectivity. The E-SteriScope single-use flexible video rhinolaryngoscope gives health care providers flexibility and choice when balancing these factors and deciding on the best pathway to diagnosis and treatment.”
