Paragon 28 has announced the launch of the Bun-Yo-Matic Lapidus Clamp System, and the completion of the first surgical cases in Seattle, Washington, and Orange County, California, in the US.

Bun-Yo-Matic is a bunion solution designed to simulate weight-bearing intraoperatively and allows for compression before applying hardware.

This provides surgeons with a more reproducible method to restore the foot's three-dimensional alignment during a Lapidus procedure.

Designed to remain attached to the anatomy throughout the surgery, the Bun-Yo-Matic Clamp ensures that the surgeon-guided correction and anatomic alignment are maintained until the fixation is applied.

Furthermore, the system includes cutting guides that help minimise bone removal from the base of the Tarsometatarsal (TMT) joint during preparation for fusion.

The new clamp and cut guide system complement Paragon 28's extensive range of bunion and forefoot solutions.

The reusable clamp is set to be used alongside several of the company’s existing implants and systems for bunion treatment, including the Gorilla Precision Lapidus Plate, Phantom Small Bone Intramedullary Nail, Phantom MIS Lapidus System for medial access and the MIS Burr Guide for preparing the first TMT joint.

Paragon 28 CEO Albert DaCosta said: “The first clinical cases with the Bun-Yo-Matic Clamp System went great, and we expect this product to drive significant growth for Paragon 28.

“We believe this clamp is a game changer in the bunion market and will result in more reproducibility, streamlined procedural work flow, improved accuracy, and ultimately improved patient outcomes in technically demanding Lapidus arthrodesis cases.

“With the capability to hold correction across all three planes throughout the entire procedure, the system is unique and brings great value to our surgeons and patients.”

The addition of the Bun-Yo-Matic Lapidus Clamp System is expected to strengthen the company’s portfolio of bunion and forefoot solutions, which also comprise products such as the Gorilla Precision MTP Plate, Phantom Metatarsal Shortening System, TenoTac, Paratrooper and HammerTube.
