Royal Philips has secured 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Philips Zenition 30 mobile C-arm.
This development is set to make image-guided surgical procedures more accessible and affordable for patients across the US.
The Zenition 30 offers surgeons enhanced flexibility, control, and personalisation, which reduces the need for technician support.
This is particularly significant in addressing staff shortages that currently limit patient access and extend waiting times for surgical procedures.
The device's ability to operate with fewer support staff members also helps hospitals manage budgetary pressures.
Intuitive control of the C-arm from alongside the patient table enhances workflow efficiency, enabling surgeons to treat more patients while maintaining focus on individual care. This contributes to improved experiences for both patients and staff.
Philips' latest flat detector technology and advanced imaging algorithms ensure the Zenition 30 provides superior image quality.
This is crucial for successful outcomes in image-guided procedures while also maintaining X-ray dose efficiency for the safety of patients and staff.
Personalised user profiles and automatic workflow customisation allow the device to adapt to a surgeon's preferences, facilitating smoother procedures and more accurate imaging on the first attempt.

Zenition 30's MetalSmart software automatically adjusts imaging for patients with metal implants, improving image quality and reducing blooming effects while keeping X-ray doses low.
The system's versatility is further demonstrated by its digital subtraction angiography capability, which provides clear imaging of blood vessels.
Philips said the Zenition mobile C-arm platform integrates the company’s innovations in image capture, processing, user-friendliness, and versatility, building on the success of the Windows-based Zenition series.
Last year, Royal Philips introduced three new magnetic resonance Smart Fit coils at the Radiological Society of North America in the US.
