Pramana has collaborated with Techcyte to provide volumetric scanning and digital diagnostics technology for microbiology, cytology and haematology applications.

Under the partnership, Pramana's Spectral M and Spectral HT intelligent whole slide imaging systems will be integrated with Techcyte's artificial intelligence (AI)-driven diagnostics software platform, providing an advanced solution for laboratory professionals.

The multidisciplinary collaboration will include the development of technology, regulatory compliance, sales and worldwide distribution.

The integration of Pramana's scanning technology with the AI image analysis and workflow software of Techcyte will create a better platform for scalable digitalisation of cytology and microbiology diagnostic workflows, even for challenging specimens.

Pramana chief business development officer Mike Koenig said: “Pramana’s expanded capabilities in these sectors, along with our Techcyte partnership, represent significant industry milestones.

“Together, our joint solution will support clinical diagnoses with novel volumetric scanning technology and AI-powered image analysis, setting us apart from any other option currently available.”

The latest approach of Pramana to imaging with volumetric scanning helps create digital captures of glass slides prepared with microbiology and cytology samples.

Using advanced deep machine learning, Techcyte's clinical pathology AI platform enhances the efforts of laboratory professionals and advances the digital diagnostics field.

Techcyte CTO Shane Swenson said: “Pramana’s smart volumetric scanning represents a new technology category that enables efficient and accurate scanning of challenging sample types.

“The modular system with multiple scanning heads fed by a robotic arm and deeply integrated image analysis will allow our customers to achieve accuracy, throughput, flexibility and redundancy that deliver an attractive return on investment.”
