Nuclear medicine solutions provider TTG Imaging Solutions has selected AccesoFarm as its exclusive international distributor in Mexico.

Under the agreement, the company will supply TTG's full range of Select Certified imaging systems, the complete Digirad product portfolio, and extensive repair and maintenance services.

TTG president and CEO Matt Mastarone said: “We are proud to partner with AccesoFarm, a leading provider of cutting-edge medical equipment and service solutions in Mexico.

“Being able to reach the market in Mexico through such a solid partner will help both our companies bring a higher level of nuclear medicine to patients throughout Mexico.”

The deal allows AccesoFarm to bring advanced nuclear medicine expertise to the healthcare sector in the country.

The collaboration between both companies is anticipated to benefit the Mexican medical imaging field by granting healthcare professionals access to advanced technology and nuclear medicine expertise. TTG will also get access to a new, global market.

AccesoFarm director general Sergio Wolf Fraind said: “We are thrilled to become the exclusive international distributor of TTG's products and services in Mexico.

“TTG has an extensive range of services, and this partnership will allow us to expand our services and bring a new level of expertise to our customers.”

In May 2023, TTG acquired US-based Digirad Health from Star Equity, which operates a diagnostic imaging turnkey business.

The $40m deal includes $27m in cash, a promissory note worth $7m, and a $6m rollover common equity interest in TTG.

Digirad Health offers original equipment manufacturer services for fixed and mobile solid-state nuclear medicine cameras.

Why are healthcare companies hesitant to invest in the metaverse?

Although metaverse technologies could reinvent healthcare approaches and bring new experiences to healthcare providers and patients, adoption is still at an early stage. There are currently few use cases in the healthcare industry. The metaverse needs to overcome major challenges for healthcare, including regulation and data privacy concerns.

Healthcare industry continues to be highly vulnerable to cyberattacks

Cybersecurity is a growing market in the medical devices sector for several reasons. Medical devices often collect and contain vulnerable data, such as patient medical information. Legacy medical devices are a cause for concern because they likely were not designed with cyberattacks in mind. With the adoption of EHR systems, telemedicine measures, mobile health apps, and other connected devices, there is increased vulnerability to cyberattacks.
