Spine technology company ulrich medical USA has commercially introduced the Momentum MIS Posterior Spinal Fixation System in the country.

This device was introduced earlier this year and the limited launch phase has recently concluded successfully.

Momentum MIS offers ulrich medical USA a percutaneous solution to meet the demand in the minimally invasive surgery market.

ulrich medical USA chief operating officer Jim Bruty said: “Momentum MIS is truly among the leading next-generation MIS solutions on the market in terms of performance and adaptability.

“The launch of this system is a significant milestone in the company's evolution toward offering a comprehensive spine portfolio for its surgeon customers.”

The design provides a comprehensive tab-based system with narrow profiles, elongated screw tabs, removable rings for added support and integrated reduction.

The system also has a new guide-wire lock and leverages the advantages of the Momentum posterior fixation platform, which includes conical screws with cannulated, fenestrated screw options.

UNC Health neurosurgeon Grant Buttram said: “I have been very pleased with the new Momentum MIS system. It is streamlined, intuitive and performs exactly as a MIS system should.

“The addition of compatibility with Medtronic's StealthStation will allow surgeons who prefer navigating their procedures to offer their patients a reliable fixation option.”

ulrich medical is focused on the development, manufacturing and marketing of advanced medical technology for the restoration of function and alignment of the spine.

AI will become a key driver of medical device innovation

The medical devices industry is highly regulated and therefore can be slow to adopt new technologies to modernize. However, it is realizing the benefits that AI can bring, and AI is now being used in different areas across the entire value chain. Common use cases include data management, remote surgery, diagnostic and procedural AI assistants, and clinical trial design. GlobalData estimates that the AI in medical devices market is expected to grow at a CAGR of >29% by 2027.
