Tromed manufactures and markets total in-vitro diagnostic test strips products for the medical device industry.
Electrical nerve stimulation for back pain relief
The Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) machine is recommended by doctors, physiotherapists and pharmacists in the UK.
Back pain is the largest single reported cause of absence from work in the UK.
The TENS machine delivers small, painless electrical pulses to the body using electrodes placed on the skin, which blocks the way pain signals are sent to the brain.
In addition, the machine stimulates the body to produce its own pain relieving chemicals called endorphins, making the TENS machine highly effective.
Digital blood pressure monitors
Full automatic digital upper arm type blood pressure monitors are also available from Tromed.
The monitor measures blood pressure digitally, features a large LCD display, and shows the average value of the last three readings.
Using an oscillometric method, the monitor stores up to 90 readings, and is battery operated by four 1.5 AA batteries. The monitor measures 150mm x 102mm x 46mm, and comes in a pouch bag.
Portable urine test strip analysers
Other products available from Tromed include portable urine test strip analysers, which provide results in five seconds.
The analysers test for blood, bilirubin, urobilinogen, ketones, protein, nitrite, glucose, pH levels, leucocytes, and ascorbic acid.
The strip is dipped in urine for a few seconds, with only a short waiting time for results. Depending on the concentration of the substance, small square colour fields on the test strip change colour.
The colour of the fields can be compared against a colour table, which is available on the test packaging, and clearly shows what colours indicate normal and deviating values. Up to 1,000 test results can be saved.
Urinalysis reagent test strips
Tromed’s urinalysis reagent test strips are available in packs of 100. These strips analyse urine for blood, ketones, protein, glucose and leucocytes.
Urinalysis can be part of a routine examination, and the test can also follow a preliminary rapid urine test that produced abnormal results.
Complete urinalysis is usually conducted in a laboratory, and consists of three parts, which are:
- Assessment of the colour, clarity and concentration of urine
- Examination of the chemical composition with a test strip
- Examination using a microscope to identify bacteria, cells and cell parts
Urinalysis can be used to discover the cause of urinary tract infections, bleeding in the urinary system, and kidney or liver disease.
In addition, urinalysis can be used to detect diabetes and bladder stones.
