While the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is inflicting damages on various countries in the world, Taiwan government and people have shown quick and effective response in curbing the outbreak thanks to the experience of combating SARS 17 years ago.

MEDICAL TAIWAN – the International Medical, Health and Care Exhibition will not only showcase Taiwan’s medical innovation and technology, but the organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) will also take this chance to promote the importance of public health and hygiene with its industry partners to show the world what Taiwan’s got in epidemic prevention.

After COVID-19 broke out in early 2020, the global economy has undergone tremendous impacts, such as travel and logistical restrictions, the shortage of raw materials and etc. Furthermore, to spread the risks, international businesses have planned on relocating their production lines to multi-regions. Taiwan, as one of the most competitive medical industry markets, would be a great alternative for the new demands.

In response to the shortage of anti-epidemic materials, Taiwan’s machine tool manufacturers, together with the Precision Machinery Research and Development Center (PMC) and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) formed a “national team” to ramp up production of mask-making machines and equipment. With the concerted efforts of the government and the people, Taiwan became the second-largest mask producer in the world amid the threat of the coronavirus

The demand for various types of anti-epidemic products keeps growing since the outbreak. In addition to medical masks, medical disposables used for epidemic prevention, like alcohol cotton pads, protective clothing, forehead thermometers, thermometers, medical gloves and infrared sensors are also being upgraded along with the rapid development of science and technology. There are also companies that have introduced intelligent epidemic prevention services to fight against the spread of the virus.

MEDICAL TAIWAN is held by TAITRA in June every year, featuring health products, medical devices, assistive products, and smart medical care solutions. Epidemic prevention materials and health monitoring products are the highlights of the exhibition. Big players such China Surgical Dressings Center (CSD), MOTEX, Taiwan Stanch and QS Control Corp. that have long been the show’s best partners will not be absent this year. TAITRA and the industry will do whatever needed to improve public health and hygiene and demonstrate the strength of Taiwan’s epidemic prevention products to the international community.

MCMEX – Taiwan Medical Components & Manufacturing Expo held in conjunction with MEDICAL TAIWAN helps visitors connect to the upstream manufacturers of medical devices and focuses on medical components, electronic components, manufacturing equipment, raw materials, medical testing devices and 3D printing.

MEDICAL TAIWAN plus MCMEX put together a comprehensive medical industry ecosystem that attracted more than 6,000 professionals that represent distributors, importers/exporters, hospitals and clinics from 47 countries to visit the exhibition last year. Out of whom, the buyers from the new southbound countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines, as well as those from Taiwan’s key markets – the United States and Japan also came to the show. One-on-one trade meetings achieved US$ 120 million in business opportunities, making MEDICAL TAIWAN a must-visit for those who eye on the Asian medical market.
