Connectors for medical devices
Hirose’s latest product release for the medical device industry is the HR25A series. This connector series is a board-mounting/cable/panel connector, and features a through-hole PCB mount type, male and female contact gender, an operating temperature range of -25ºC to 85ºC, 1,000 mating/unmating cycles, a current rating of 1A and a shell size diameter of 7mm or 9mm.
Other features include:
- Small size and high density (outside diameters for plugs (max) – 11mm: 4,6 and 8 positions; 13mm: 12,16 and 20 positions)
- Simple push-in/pull-out mating and un-mating
- Several mounting positions, styles and terminations
- Metal shells
- Termination style: crimping or soldering
Connector plugs for medical equipment
The TM-P series connector plug conforms to FCC standards. The six-conductor model conforms to RJ-11 standards, while the eight-conductor model conforms to RJ-45 and ISO8877 standards. A wide variety of cables are available, including flat and round copper foil stranded wires, non-shielded solid wires and thin stranded wires. Features include:
- Cable termination to pre-inserted contacts using a special manual tool
- Environment-resistive gold-plated terminals with a fire-retardant insulator (UL94V-0)
- A one-touch lock that offers excellent operability
Right-angle through-hole connectors
The TM-DS series of right-angle through-hole connectors conforms to FCC standards. The six-conductor opening model conforms to RJ-11 standards and the eight-conductor model conforms to RJ-45 and ISO8877 standards. Features include:
- Dip soldering horizontally to the PCB
- Gold-plated, environment-resistive terminals with a fire-retardant insulator (UL94V-0)
- Multiple port types have a six-conductor or eight-conductor opening in a wide variety of models, including space-saving types
- A space-saving model with a height of 11.7mm from the PCB surface, a width of 14mm, and a depth of 17mm is available
Straight through-hole connectors
The TM-DSA series of straight through-hole connectors conforms to FCC standards. The six-conductor opening model conforms to RJ-11 standards and the eight-conductor model conforms to RJ-45 and ISO8877 standards. Features include:
- Dip soldering vertically to the PCB
- The gold-plated terminals are environment-resistive with a fire-retardant insulator (UL94V-0)
- Multiple port types have a six-conductor opening in a wide variety of models with one to four ports
- Lightweight, compact design with PCB mounting space reduced
Wire-lead jack connectors
The TM-W series of wire-lead jack connectors conforms to FCC standards. The six-conductor opening model conforms to RJ-11 standards, while the eight-conductor model conforms to RJ-45 and ISO8877 standards. Features include:

Electronic therapy, pulse-oximeters, slimming and muscle training, exercise counters and warm water cleaning units
Hirose started to develop and manufacture a variety of medical instruments in 1976. These products include electronic therapy devices for relieving pain and promoting blood flow, and measuring devices such as the pulse-oximeter, which is used to measure the oxygen concentration of blood.
In an effort to make medical technology available for practical use, Hirose has also focused attention in recent years on the development of health products for personal use and has already won a highly favourable market response with a variety of electronic products, including electronic devices for slimming and muscle training, exercise counters for lifestyle monitors and warm water cleaning units for portable toilets.
