The world is shrinking every day and so are the size requirements for springs. To serve customers’ growing demand for smaller sizes, Lee Spring introduces Bantam mini compression springs, adds smaller diameters to their Redux™ wave spring line and expands their stock compression spring offering in wire sizes from 0.006in to 0.013in.
Bantam mini compression springs are Lee’s unique response to customers’ needs for miniature stock springs that combine strength with corrosion resistance. The products start at a wire diameter of 0.004in, just slightly thicker than a human hair, and range up to 0.0055in in standard outside diameters 0.025in, 0.040in and 0.057in. In order to meet and maximize the performance needs of a diverse range of applications, Lee Spring selected Elgiloy® as the alloy for stock Bantam springs.
Elgiloy is a cobalt-nickel alloy known for its high strength; it is 10% stronger than Type 316 stainless steel. It exhibits superior resistance in most corrosive environments including acetic acid, ammonium chloride, citric acid, sodium chloride and sodium sulphite. This non-magnetic material performs well in temperatures up to 850°F. Applications include medical devices, pharmaceutical delivery devices, petro-chemical processes, and aerospace and marine industries. Bantam mini compression springs are also available in custom designs in Elgiloy and other alloys.
Smaller sizes for Redux and Instrument series
As assemblies get smaller, so does the demand for smaller Redux stainless steel wave springs. Lee’s Redux line now includes designs to fit 1/4in and 5/16in hole diameters as well as additional designs in the 1/2in, 9/16in and 5/8in ranges.
Lee’s range of Instrument series stock compression springs continues to grow with even more designs in wire sizes from 0.006in through 0.013in. The more than 1,100 products in this series are offered in a choice of three materials: music wire, Type 302 stainless steel and Type 316 stainless steel.
Lee Spring offers extensive custom services for the production of springs, wire forms, washers, stampings, four slide parts and assemblies.
