Global manufacturer of industrial touchscreen and display solutions Touch International (TI) has increased its OFX-Series open-frame PCAP touch monitors with innovative 10.1in and 21.5in sunlight-readable variants. The plug-and-play monitors combine TI’s latest PCAP touch technology with industrial-grade displays for professional applications in environments where high ambient lighting or direct sunlight is a factor.

The 10.1in features 1000 nits brightness, 1280×800 resolution, and has an 800:1 contrast ratio. Because of the -20° to 70° C operating temperature, this display is well suited for a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications such as industrial controls, navigation systems, heavy-duty transport, and public use terminals deployed across varying climates. The 21.5in features 1500 nits brightness, 1920×1080 FHD resolution, and 1000:1 contrast ratio.  With an operating temperature of 0 to 50° C, the 21.5in is best suited for indoor applications that have high ambient lighting conditions such as self-service pavilions, manufacturing centres, digital signage, and wayfinding kiosks.

“TI’s OFX-SR touch monitors are essentially a cheat code for companies looking to develop touch-enabled products that require daylight visibility,” said Shaun Detmer, Director of Marketing. “Companies are freed from worrying about the critical components to focus on the fun stuff like branding, aesthetics, or exploring new performance enhancement options. We make it easy to release better products at less cost quickly.”

Both new touch monitors feature industrial-grade displays with wide-angle viewing technology and support 16.7 million colours. The 10-point multi-touch PCAP touch screens are integrated with a full optical bond to maximise display picture quality, backlight performance, and increase the durability of products. A chemically strengthened cover glass with a thin black graphic border protects the display with enough overhang to drop for flush-fit housings and enclosures.

The black powder-coated aluminium enclosure has a VESA compatible mount with adjustable side flanges for integration in cabinets, enclosures, consoles, and other applications. HDMI and DisplayPort inputs are tucked behind the monitor to simplify cable management. USB touch screen communication ensures plug-and-play operation with Windows or Android operating systems.

“Customers can quickly start beta-testing GUI and software applications while the engineering and project management teams focus work on mechanicals in parallel,” said Michael Woolstrum, CEO. “What used to take months can be done in weeks when we leverage our library of reference designs and harness the power of collaborative engineering.”

TI’s OFX-Series range from 7in to 55in in various resolutions, including new medical versions. Customisation options include night-vision or dual-Mode operation, SBC or media player integration, anti-microbial coatings, gloved touch, custom cover glass shape or decoration, and peripheral integration.
